I've spent countless hours lately trying to figure out what the cheapest grocery list in the world is... I can sum up most of my effort with a quote from the National Health Ministries (biglist.pdf)...
"Realistically, if you had to, you could purchase only bulk size bags of rice, dried beans, flour, shortening, possibly corn, along with some source of Vitamin C."
More specifically my research has yielded a one month shopping list that will allow one adult to eat for a month in a survival situation for under fifty bucks.
5 lbs. enriched flour
5 lbs. vegetable shortening
3 lbs. dry soy flour
3 lbs. Cornmeal
2.5 lbs. sugar
16+ oz. lemon juice
Store ingredients in airtight containers to avoid bugs.
Someone fucked with this article and ten million cops died, no problem.
Bakes into dense lemon soy corn bread.
